Fall COLOR TOURs
There’s a reason the Upper Peninsula was named the #1 Best Destination for Fall Foliage by USA Today readers. When the maples, birches, and oaks burst into brilliant shades of red, gold, and orange, every drive around Munising turns into pure autumn magic. Whether you’re looking for quick scenic byways or longer day trips with waterfalls, overlooks, and charming small towns along the way, Munising is the perfect home base for your fall color adventure.
Munising → Manistique
Whether you’re heading up to Munising or back down south toward Manistique, this route offers a stunning perspective of autumn in the Upper Peninsula. Travel down through both towns and along M-94 for roughly 45 miles to complete this scenic drive. Along the way, you’ll pass hardwood forests glowing with color, quiet inland lakes, and glimpses of the Lake Michigan shoreline.
Grand Marais → Munising
Often called “Fifty Miles of Heaven,” County Road H-58 is one of the most scenic fall color routes in Michigan. Once a rough gravel road, it’s now fully paved, making it easy for cars, RVs, and even motorcycles to enjoy. While given away by the name, this route is approximately 50 miles of stunning twists and turns along the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!
Munising → Grand Marais → Seney Loop

Want even more fall colors? After you reach Grand Marais, head south to Seney, where you can then complete this stunning autumn loop. This scenic loop totals 111 miles, with just about 2 hours and 20 minutes of total estimated drive time. Although you may want to take a couple of pit stops at some of these fun places you’ll pass along your drive:
- Chapel Falls Trailhead
- Sable Falls
- Grand Sable Dunes
- Downtown Grand Marais
- Seney National Wildlife Refuge
