The Great Waters Partnerships
The Great Waters is a regional initiative designed to help Eastern Upper Peninsula communities prosper by developing, marketing and promoting nature and cultural based tourism. The effort is led by a five county collaborative with guidance and support from Northern Initiatives. Communities from throughout these five counties have come together to raise the region’s profile among travelers in an effort to attract new markets, extend visitor stays, and increase overall tourism. The key regional partners include Tourism and Community Development leaders from Curtis, DeTour Village, Drummond Island, Grand Marais, Les Cheneaux, Mackinac Island, Manistique, Munising, Newberry, Sault Ste. Marie, St. Ignace, and Paradise.

On the eastern end of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is a corner of the world unlike anything else. Unspoiled natural beauty, charming small town life, world renowned landmarks and over a thousand years of Native American history lie here in The Great Waters. From Mackinac Island to Tahquamenon Falls to Pictured Rocks, there is always a new adventure to be explored at any time of the year.
